Longji Ancient Zhuang Village

Longji Ancient Zhuang Village is located in Longji Scenic Area, surrounded by rice terraces, It is around 10 km from Heping town, 21 km from Longsheng County as well as about 76 km from Guilin. It is a well-preserved ancient village, which is quite near to the famous Ping An Zhuang Village. Therefore, when you visit to Longji Rice Terrace in Ping An Zhuang Village, you could try to walk along the pathway to the Ancient Zhuang Village for around 40 minutes.

The Ancient Zhuang Village includes four Zhuang villages. They are Liaojia Village, Houjia Village, Pingduan and Pingzhai Village with more than 70,000 ethnic residents. They still live in their own traditional way in this mountainous area and rarely affected by the outside. Longji Ancient Zhuang Village has a history of more than 430 year. It has the best-preserved, oldest but largest wooden stilt houses of Zhuang nationality. Five of them was built for more than 100 year and the oldest one has a history of more than 250 years.

Due to the remote distance from outside, the local people in Longji Area make full use of the local resources. Therefore, all their houses are wooden and they also create their own special stone culture. In the village, all the roads are paved by bluestone. There are also 57 bluestone bridges. Besides, tourists could find stone foundation for the house, stone sink, stone gate of the village, stone mill, stone mortar, stone wall, stone carving, ect, which reflects the local people’s hard-working and widom.
